The Kids are All-Write

The latest Nation's report card shows gains in our student's writing skills. How can this be? Kids don't write. They are too busy on cell phones,MySpace, Blogger, and Twitter to write!

The truth of the matter is kids are writing now more than ever. Not forced writing but creative expression. The digital tools often criticized for distracting students from developing writing skills are a large part of why we are improving.

Additionally, both the commercial software industry and non-profit organizations have recognized the value of providing an educational interface similar to the social networking sites already frequented by millions of American teenagers.

One such group is "Teaching Matters", a non-profit organization that has invested millions of dollars to develop engaging, digital-based lessons to foster writing strategies. To link to the Teaching Matters homepage, click here.
